Bartos as the old aristocratic family
Bartos as the old aristocratic family
Bartos is the old aristocratic family and it shows old records of heraldry from 12th century and villages, towns and castle Bartosovice history and other famous Bartoses from history.
Supposing this is only hypotesis of other person as family Bartos, but family Bartos is older than this century so is not from this Bartholomew bellow. Exist such system of creating of surname from name at other aristocratic families and their one founder. About this exist more informations and issues on internet than this bellow and is as thing for reasearch of all Modrus and Bartos surnames found as an interesting information. Bartoses exist many different branches and with different predicats and coats of arms and derivations, so it is suposing some princely family, because many noble families are derived from maybe some source in some of countries and it is very spread noble surname (noble families: Bartos, Barton, Bartodej, Bartollini, Bartholdy, Barto and very many other surnames derived from Bartolomew, from which is Bartos and from Bartos and with other predicats to Bartos base who married with equal marriage with royal families of Europe being in their genealogical issues). Also exist some princes from Bartos. Some informations are in heraldic and historical books of many such derivations and branches with different and sovereign coat of arms, history and derivation from Bartos and different predicat. Maybe some of tehm I posted on the web. Generaly many families from such areas of slavic countries comes from Premysl family or is related to them, i.e. other and all kings of whole Europe are all related and one another and also with Premysl. To this area are also many and whole areas which came from Croatia or also from Bohemia or Germany. Bartoses has to be older than 12th century as in this century were already spread in whole Europe and its variations and villages and castle and older because already in 12th century was this surname already spread in several countries of Europe in heraldic registers as exact Bartos or its vartions all many times so its roots reaches far to the history as were already spread.
Other hypotesis
Other interesting question is here why it says that the name of Modra in Slovakia, so other Modra was given to it after 4 blue brooks, rivers, or several brooks. So the legend of this can be changed as mistake maybe as also legend about the place of church or closter of St. Barbara, it stone and here is also such mistake hypotesis I know about some ruins, which are in forest, same as St. Barbara are in forest on pages of history of town, what can be closter or perhaps ruins of castle, I do not know in forest in Modra, when Croatian noble family and here many Croatian settled and whole villages around, is their area called Modra-Rijeka, sounds as book, river. Names of villages are mostly given after the name of the owner, noble and not by some cooking up of the something some people see. There is question and better possibility that original aristocracy of Modra was just Modrus-Rijeka aristocrat. There are some Modra towns in former Czechoslovakia, what is the origin of Modra or Bartos surname and its beginning is the question for thinking. Also here is a lot of hungarian, German, Czech and other nationalities which did not have to speak so well Slovak that understood that Modrus-Rijeka is brook and if it is difference between river and brook as Rijeka sounds to Slovaks as rieka what is river and they say in legend brook, what is potok in Slovak langauge. Here is hypotesis that original aristocracy could be perhaps Croatian or that Croatian from Slovakia as are same names of villages. It does not seem okay that legend that it is named after the brooks, blue 4 brooks, because it is not usual that some village has not founder and especially in such place where were mines and forests, where were important paths of business and it is here question if Modra was not found after Croatian or Czech Modra. Also there is question of this for linguist about Rijeka and also if Slovak word "rieka" sounds as Croatian "rijeka" was not used as brook, potok and also there were not all people who surely knew Slovak from their childhood, neither schools and in that times was not codificated Slovak language, there were many Czechs, Germans, Croatians and Hungarians in this area and also several Croatian villages founded around Modra. I supose that name of the village and town Modra is not by that legend, but is again turned from not knowledge of Slovak language or some machinations and Modra is named after some noble family as its founder and this is visible from the names of other towns in Slovakia, Bohemia, Croatia using Modra. When I checked this in google translator giving rijeka to Croatian and translated to Slovak, I found rieka and when I stood on rieka, I found it is potok and I did not know that rieka, riečka is used on potok, because I do not know all things in Slovak as have all ancestors, which were not Slovaks or I do not know what is used in other parts of Slovakia or who what knows in Slovak language. So there old and Croatian settlement or also Hungarian, Czech, German and other maybe did not understand if it is used or used it as maybe also Slovaks uses rieka as potok. So maybe this is from aristocratic family Modra-Rijeka and not legend, they only evily explained this aristocratic area in Croatia or tried not to tell they are Croatian originaly and hid this by this, for me false legend. I know well Slovak, but I do not know what I do not know compare to those who have more ancestors Slovaks and have in family used words from them, more vocabulary. Also because I used years other languages I came to this Rijeka-legend about brook hypotesis. From history of Modra and Slovakia and current status are possible several variants why can be this misunderstood and this legend spread as the lie. Modra means blue and maybe is called after Mary so Holy Grail genealogy as hypotesis as other kings were from it or not, but blue blood maybe or from David or not, why colour blue? Maybe blue blood, after what is blue blood? Maybe exists not only one hypotesis. Also Krk Modrus-Rijeka Frakipani shows just on Samova risa, Realm of Samo, Frank business man called by Slovak historics, but in reality king, who just had son Krok, from which comes Libuše and the other names of Czech history and it sounds as Krk. So family Bartos should be famous during Great Moravia and Samova risa, Realm of Samo times concerning its spreading and heraldry of Europe in 12th centrury. Bartos coat of arms is from some sources squirrel and from describtion lion, what could be of royal origin. There are also very many variations of Bartos which are from this surname with sovereign coat of arms and plus to this surname variations predicat as I already mentioned. Bartos variations are in this area in mountains and whole several mountains are called by variations of Bartos and some of them are over valleys called after Modra, Modran valleys.
Here is other question
Here is many hidden genealogy and also history, only stayed St. Barbara and not mines, maybe this all can be joined with some hidden history of some other aristocracy and history of Modra should be really older than is known. Derivating this from its name and from spreading of surname Bartos or from Modra spreading in Bohemia, Slovakia, Croatia.

With the history reaching earlier than 12.th-13th century far earlier, can be proof again as pro Franko princes, counts Bartoses and there are more villages in Slovakia with name Bar and earlier source than 12th century. Bartos is named after Bartolomew, Bartolomej and has many variations and Bar should be this variation as proof that this family already had branches and is spread. Also the same branch can use the different name comming from their surname just shorter one to give name to their many properties as there are many villages which contain Bartoš.
To Modra - Bartos:
Local names of Small Carpatian Mountains are this:
Modranská cesta goes through Modranská dolina and over it is hill, mountain Bartalová, Modranská skala, and forests larger part Bartalová.
And one hill is there and after it is Švancpošská dolina and over it is hill Bartoška
and this is among Zochova Chata and Kuchyňa
cesta means road, dolina means valley, skala means rock
Exist also some localities where are surnames. Really a lot of surnames. Or some which have one surname on several areas. There surnames on hills should mark that i tis princely, count house, not only other villages and castle as also other families own castles named after previous noble and maybe just Bartoš is source from which comes other families of Slovakia and Europe as writes history of Horny Bar and from it we can suppose this and also from heraldry and earlier spreading than in 12.th century as I already mentioned.

Count Bartos - Bartalan (Bartos-Bartul-Bartol) Count of Veglia and Modrus Ban of Croatia
I also heard the same information about Bartholomew as well. The name for my family came from Bartalan (Bertalan) which is Bartholomew. I have seen it altered to Bartul and Bartol /Barthol as well. It is still a derivative of the same name.
There is a Bartol or Bartalan - Bertalan who was from the Frangipani branch. This was Istvan (Stefan) Bartalan (Bartos-Bartul-Bartol) Count of Veglia and Modrus Ban of Croatia died 1481 married Isotta d'Este in 1446. Isotta lived between (1425 - 1456). The connection of this Bartol or Bartalan (because there are so many of them in the family tree) is that he was Count of Modrus. The year is off from the 1601 you have.
I do not see another Bartol or Bartalan or Bartholomew anywhere else in 1600s. This of course does not mean anything as you know because the records are incomplete. I am sure there is a way to connect the dots.
If they came from Yugoslav area chances are very strong that we are related!
From Princess Susanna Torquatus Von Raditsch:
.....I was doing a bit of research on my family and suddenly came across your posting about my family. It seems you have a lot of information about different branches. I would like to ask for your help if this is possible? My 4th Great Grandfather was Count Jozef Horvath Bartos Kraic Cognac (Kranjac). I don't know when he was born nor who his wife(s) were? They had children. Count Bartolomew Bartos Horvath Frangipani Kraic Cognac (Kranjac) born 22 Mar 1800 and Count Duimo Horvath Bartos Frangipani Kraic Cognac (Kranjac) born 1786 died 04 Dec 1833. I know they had been living in France with family there until French Revolution when they left....

Is it only accident or it is family rock Bear rock/Medvedia and Bartolomej, what is Bartos, was found in same day.
